Maybe it would be better to say if the module is enabled, the site admin surely wants to do attribute exchange.
So I'd propose to remove "Enable Attribute Exchange" from the settings.
It would make the module configuration easier and the UI can be even simplier.

Here is a patch to remove this checkbox.
Now we only have to decide :)

Darren: could you shed some light on why there's a checkbox for enabling/disabling AX? Debug reasons? Other reasons?

We don't need to act on this right away, but until we do: let's add a note to README.
