Case:
1 - reg. process set to "admin approval" (gist, makes site "private/semi-private" & reg. an "application")
2 - "admin users" perm shared, common to social network site (worse if admin # grows/unpaid?)
As "application", may require communication to confirm affiliation, relation etc. - or at very least some scrutiny/common sense - or you wouldn't have used "admin approval" at all. Each user admin delegate only sees status "blocked" or not. If review begun by one admin, another doesn't know and may set to active or start another communication (why worse as admin # grows).
Arguments:
1 - If good enough reason to option/exersise "admin approval", then unblocking dictates process (to varying degrees).
2 - If process started, admin sets to "Pending", "In Progress" or "Under Review" until decision is made (5min, 5 hrs, 5days).
3 - Other user admins won't duplicate efforts, "step on toes" or at least see some action underway.
4 - Have provided default "pending" email template for "admin approval", and provided delegation option of "user admin" (perm shared) - therefore should provide for appropriate account status if in review process.
Have submitted as FRequest for 7 (http://drupal.org/node/426688), but I need for 6 yesterday - anyones' help is greatly appreciated. - NO CODER here!

robloach#426688: Record "pending admin approval" state ;-)

rhimes commentedRob -
I referrenced that one myself -I made it - that one is a feature request for 7 - this one is an "I need help" for 6. Shouldn't there be two?

robloachI've created a "In Review" membership by making new users have a blocked status, and then giving administrators a View of the blocked members. They could then go through and approve those users, or deny them.
You might have better luck getting support requests on the forum ;-) . The issue queue is usually used for Drupal core development.

rhimes commentedwhat I'm saying Rob, is that to "go through and approve those users, or deny them", is a decision making process which cannot always be made instantaneously - some scrutiny, review or even communication may have to be instigated to arrive at a dispensation - and that could take 5sec, min, hrs, days etc - during which time, there's no indication anywhere - to anyone -that the new member ("applicant") is "In Review".

rhimes commentedjust came to me to better 'splain it -
think dozens of workers in HR dept - "approve or deny" is a process - if begun by one HR worker, you wouldn't want all (or ANY) of the other HR workers to duplicate.

rhimes commentedprogress:
1 - I have "Pending" (using 'pending' label, shorter & one word) as status option on /user/x/edit (account edit page) - see pending_account_edit.png.
2 - Got "pending" as status filter in pull-down (admin/user/user page) - see pending_filter.png
3 - And "status to Pending" as an update option (user_user_operations_pend) - see pending_option.png
Changing status to "Pending" from /user/x/edit works, filter on "pending" from admin/user/user works - BUT having trouble getting function user_user_operations_pend to work - any suggestions?

dpearcefl commentedAdding features to Drupal v6 core is just not going to happen. Perhaps in a contrib or custom module this could be done.
If you want to suggest this as a new feature in Drupal code, it will have to go against D8.
rhimes commentedwhere do you see "feature request"? - this ia a SUPPORT REQUEST
Comment #9
dpearcefl commentedMy apologies, perhaps I misunderstood something.
A support request against Drupal core is for functionality that exists but you are having problems making it work.
A feature request is for desired additions (functionality) to Drupal core.
Because of the issue title (Add a "Pending" or "In Review" account status) and that you state you "Have submitted as FRequest for 7" I assumed this is a feature request in D6.
As Rob Loach stated in #3, the forums might be a better place for this issue.
