The countdown timer doesn't show up in the story on the frontpage, however when I click on the story to add comment, the countdown shows up. Any help is appreciated

Make sure you set the javascript load option to "Every page", and see if that works.

Login as admin.
Go to:
yoursite.com/?q=admin/settings/countdowntimer

It is the first setting.
