I created a custom profile using core's profile module. I have several categories and in there several items (profile fields). I can assign weights to the different items. This information is used on the user's edit pages. The items are displayed in the order according to the weights.

However, the weights are not used to sort the items while viewing the profile pages. So for example, if I define items with the following order:

item1
item2
item3

It is not predictable in which order the items will be displayed. For example, it might be:

item2
item1
item3

This is very annoying, because the edit pages look different from how the items are later viewed to the user. I also found no way how to overwrite that behaviour by theming, but I might be missing here something.

I found a workaround for the problem. It occurs, because all items in a category have the default weight 0. It seems that no weight is assigned while adding a new field, but it is just added at the end of the list. I moved the fields around so that they get a weight assigned and then it works. However, this is of course no solution, because correct weights must be assigned during creating profile fields. Another solution might be to show the fields sorted by their primary key if no weights are defined.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. Can you tell me how to sort the fields with their primary keys by example.

Thanks!
Gunther

Ahh found a solution to give profile fields a weight (on account page), look @ http://drupal.org/project/modules?text=MyAccount_alter

I'm having just a problem with a content type, that i can't give a weight. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Gunther

You can always get rid of unneeded sections by theming the profile page. An additional module is not really needed for that.
