Problem/Motivation
As an administrator or moderator with sufficient permissions, core provides Approve/Delete/Edit links on each comment. ACT hides these links. It does add a replacement "approve" link, but not edit or delete.
Steps to reproduce
Log in with a user with permission to administer comments.
View a page with comments.
No edit or delete link is available.
Proposed resolution
Make Edit and Delete discoverable when the current user is allowed to perform the operation. Preserve server-side access enforcement, including when permissions change after the page loads.
Editing could navigate to core's comment edit page or use an inline form; this remains a design decision. Deletion should require confirmation, potentially using the inline interaction established for Approve, and must not delete content merely by following a GET link.
Remaining tasks
- Reproduce across summary, teaser, and full density, including selected comments and on-demand replacements, to establish where the existing operation links are lost or withheld.
- Decide whether Edit uses core navigation or an inline form, and where authorized operations appear at each density.
- Confirm the site's actual comment access rules. Decide whether existing administration permissions suffice or separate delete-any/delete-own permissions are needed; do not assume those permissions already exist.
- Define deletion confirmation, including the effect on replies. Preserve core's deletion semantics unless a separate change is explicitly agreed.
- Test authorized administrators and owners, unauthorized users, cancellation, and access changes between rendering and submission.
- For inline operations, verify focus, feedback, draft preservation, counts, and tree refresh after completion.
User interface changes
Authorized readers can find Edit and Delete operations. The edit destination and inline deletion experience remain to be decided.
API changes
To be determined if new permissions or inline operation routes are introduced.
Data model changes
None anticipated. Preserving replies beneath removed parents remains a separate feature discussion.
