Problem/Motivation

The named roles a site fills in are what let the module produce its shape of response on a site nobody configured yet. Asking an administrator to fill ten roles per bundle from scratch is asking too much; guessing them and acting on the guess is the failure mode this design forbids.

Proposed resolution

  • Implement the heuristics — field type plus cardinality plus a machine-name pattern, the front page node from system.site, top-level menu items, the presence of myfacet and an index.
  • Every result is queued as a suggestion with its reasoning shown, never written to the convention.
  • A rejected suggestion goes to the ignore list and is not repeated.
  • Unit-testable: the heuristics take a ModelMap and return suggestions, with no database and no side effects.

Remaining tasks

Everything. The rule to hold on to: a suggestion changes nothing until a person confirms it.
