Problem/Motivation

Allow moderators to confirm and approve a comment within the discussion, without navigating to a separate approval page or losing their place.

Steps to reproduce

Selecting Approve on an unpublished comment opens a separate confirmation page. Completing approval redirects back to the content page and displays status messages.

In a long discussion, this interrupts moderation and makes it harder to continue from the comment being reviewed.

Proposed resolution

With JavaScript enabled, allow approval confirmation and submission within the discussion.

After approval:

  • Update the comment’s unpublished state and available actions.
  • Show a clear success or failure message.
  • Preserve the moderator’s position in the discussion.

Keep a working non-JavaScript approval flow.

Observed while approving an anonymous reply in a discussion with more than 200 comments.
