Introduced in branch:
1.x
Introduced in version:
1.2.0
Description:

The module now supports the European Commission's eTranslation REST v2 API through a new translator plugin. The original translator plugin has been deprecated in favor of it, but continues to work for backwards compatibility.

New ec_etranslation_rest_v2 plugin

A new translator plugin, European Commission eTranslation (REST v2) (ec_etranslation_rest_v2), talks to the language-tools.ec.europa.eu endpoint using HTTP Basic authentication. This is the recommended plugin for all new configurations. The ec_etranslation plugin is deprecated.

The original European Commission eTranslation plugin (ec_etranslation) is deprecated in tmgmt_ec_etranslation:1.2.0 and is removed from tmgmt_ec_etranslation:2.0.0. It still works against the legacy webgate.ec.europa.eu (REST v1) endpoint using HTTP Digest authentication, so existing translators keep functioning unchanged - but you should migrate to the REST v2 plugin.

What you need to do (site builders)

Existing eTranslation providers keep working with no action required. To migrate:

  1. Go to /admin/tmgmt/translators.
  2. Add a new provider using European Commission eTranslation (REST v2).
  3. Enter your REST v2 credentials and domain.
  4. Point your translation jobs/workflow at the new provider.

Note: the REST v2 API no longer supports email delivery of results, so the Email address setting now only applies to the deprecated plugin.
