Problem/Motivation

The dependencies currently in this module reflect the full set previously required by event_platform. That can create conflicts, for example if any dependencies here should fall out of sync with what is required there or in event_platform_starter. That could even unavoidable should the dependencies declared in those two fall out of sync with each other.

Proposed resolution

Strip out all dependencies here that are not needed to support the code in this module.
