Views data sees it as a plain search api field, with the 'search_api' plugin.

The index property is a date type though.

This is blocking #3555789: Use localgov_event_date format for calendar.

Fixed in #3591122: date_range field is not treated as a date in Search index -- need to add this to the README.

Given that our calendar looks like crap without this, we should add a workaround (hook views data alter) rather than just recommend the patch.

Well CRAP.

The Calendar view display no longer recognises the field as a date field, and so NOTHING shows in the calendar!
