Problem/Motivation

After newly placing an entity reference (media) field display component, it is impossible to change the formatter, since the subform resets after the selection is changed. Refreshing the Canvas UI allows the formatter to be changed, but then changes to the label display or view mode are not reflected in the preview or (after publishing changes) in the display of content using the modified Canvas template.

These problems were not evident in the 1.0.0-beta6 release, so before the conversion to HTMX.

Proposed resolution

Either establish the cause of the regression, or revert back to the pre-HTMX state.
