Problem/Motivation

I would like to work on this project with the help of an AI assistant. An AGENTS.md file will help my assistant quickly get up to speed with the project's structure, the coding patterns and standards used, and other details without having to do a deep-dive through the whole project every time we switch into it.

Steps to reproduce

Bring an AI assistant / "agent" into the repo and see that it immediately looks for, but does not find, an AGENTS.md (or similar) file, and must do a deeper analysis in order to get acquainted with the project.

Proposed resolution

Add a suitable AGENTS.md file into the project.
