We're still helping. |

I started my thoughts here: https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014QES6HSQ/p1768270440965459?thread_t... |

In short, I feel like the enthusiasm has died down substantially, as the focus of the community was diverted to Starshot in 2024 the engagement with BS slowed down - which is of course fine. But do we see BSI coming back? Are we making a dent in the bugs in core etc. etc.According to our Goals and Progress page: https://www.drupal.org/community-initiatives/bug-smash-initiative/goals we’ve met and exceeded our targets across all priority type. Do we use this opportunity - coming up on the 6 year anniversay - to review the initiative, either refocus things or potentially even shut it down? |

Very open to feedback. |

I support examining and refocusing. I do think there is a need for some sort of focus somewhere in the community on reviewing the status of old issues and closing them off or attempting to get them to a state where more engagement can happen. |

Worth pointing out the #stale-issue-cleanup channel / initiative |

We've definitely lost momentum, but it also feels like total bug numbers (not sure about years) are staying around flat, which is a lot better than when the initiative started, they'd been permanently going up more or less forever before we started. And staying flat represents a lot of bugs being fixed.I personally think the biggest barrier to more momentum is the state of the RTBC queue, there are 54 RTBC bugs at the moment, nearly 150 RTBC issues overall. Any bug report that actually gets fixed has to go through that bottleneck. I had a quick look some of the least-recently-updated bug reports and found a couple of needs more info / mark as duplicated etc. but we did a lot of that at the beginning so they are not as easy to find.https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/search/drupal?text=&assigned=&submitted=&proje[…]s%5B%5D=1&version%5B%5D=any_11.&issue_tags_op=%3D&issue_tags= |

We have met the goals of the initiative, so good on us! |
| quietone |
For me, the new goal would be to triage all core bugs because the triage is where, I think, we have made the most impact. There are 4,304 bugs not tagged Bug Smash. So that goal is changed from number fixed to number tagged. |

BTW, Since Nov 2022 till now the percentage of bugs has gone from 42.63% to 36.73%. There was a 5% drop in April of this year. I guess from the stale issue cleanup? |
|
Overall the behavior here has been to 'dip in when one has time' which works for triage. |
|
On the other hand. we have shown that this style of working on issues does make an impact. We could expand to cover all types of issues. |
