Problem/Motivation

I've added the D11 responsive images and configured it accordingly.
When I go to a standard image field in the content type display, I can select the responsive format.

When I try the same thing for an image field that I've place in my layout, there is no responsive format in the layout builder sidebar.

How to use layout builder bootstrap together with the core responsive images?

Bootstrap Layout Builder does not directly control field formatter options - it only provides Bootstrap grid layouts for Layout Builder sections. The issue you're experiencing is a Drupal core Layout Builder limitation, not specific to Bootstrap Layout Builder.

The Problem
When you add a field block through Layout Builder's UI, the formatter configuration form is provided by Drupal core's Layout Builder module, not by Bootstrap Layout Builder. This module only handles:

Bootstrap grid layouts (rows and columns)
Layout styling and responsive breakpoints
Section/region configuration
It doesn't modify or extend how field blocks display their formatter options.

Why Responsive Image Formatter Might Be Missing
The responsive image formatter not appearing in the Layout Builder sidebar could be due to:

Field type incompatibility - Ensure your image field is using the correct field type that supports responsive images
Module dependencies - Verify the Responsive Image module is enabled
View mode configuration - The formatter options shown in Layout Builder depend on available formatters for that field type
Drupal core version - Some formatter options may vary between D10 and D11
