Drupal CMS now enables recipe unpacking by default. This is a new capability in Drupal core 11.2 that allows sites built on recipes to not be constrained by the recipes' dependencies. We recommend reading the core change record for more background information on unpacking.
Projects that were started on Drupal CMS 1.0 or 1.1 don't have this enabled by default, and will need to follow these instructions to make the appropriate changes. Note that you do not need to be using Drupal 11.2 for this to work -- you can set up recipe unpacking on any version of Drupal.
At the command line, in your Drupal project root (where composer.json is located), run the following commands:
composer config allow-plugins.drupal/core-recipe-unpack true
composer require drupal/core-recipe-unpack
composer drupal:recipe-unpack
With unpacking enabled, any new recipes that you require into the project will be automatically unpacked. Once you have unpacked the recipes, it's also recommended to delete any recipes that you have already applied to your site, or don't intend to. An unpacked recipe can be deleted like any other directory.
