Problem/Motivation

The current name of the module doesn't reflect name of the Digital Analytics Program. If you do a Google search for "drupal digital analytics program" then the only reason that this module comes up in the results is because I wrote it into the release notes for version 2.2.0. Someone else's module that was built in 2015 comes up in the top result.

This issue makes the module difficult to find. I used a custom module for the sites I manage for years before finally finding this one. So there are two instances that I know of where people have written other modules because they never knew this one existed.

Name suggestions

  • Digital Analytics Program
  • Digital Analytics Program (DAP)
  • GSA Digital Analytics Program
  • Digital.gov DAP
  • Digital.gov Digital Analytics Program

None of these will change the machine name. The only way to get around that is to fork the module to a different namespace. Of course, that can be on the table. I'll note that the dap namespace is available. I sure wouldn't mind never having to type out usfedgov_google_analytics ever again.

If we do change the human-readable name of the existing module, then we should standardize on that including on the module homepage, the settings form, the form menu link, etc. Right now things are different everywhere you look.

I decided to just do this. It needs to happen. The module is practically undiscoverable as it is. I went with the simplest name, "Digital Analytics Program". We can change it in a follow-up issue if someone comes back with an objection.
