Problem/Motivation

While doing #3466028: Ensure media library popin is usable, I had to normalize the media library link and I got fatal errors because GET parameters are expected and are currently dropped by the normalize.

Also would it be possible to not change original items by reference if we want/need to keep non-normalize links untouched?
