I installed "User Activity" after Heartbeat. User Activity was automatically enabled and the "User Activity" component of Heartbeat was no longer under the "Heartbeat" section and "Heartbeat gives lots of errors... Seems Drupal didn't know these were two separate things.

This can only be due to a previous installation. Make sure everything is removed from your tables. If you downloaded the new one over the old, this could happen.
I must tell you that this is still in beta! If you are willing to try this in production or for real, you will have to wait a month if everything goes well. I am working very hard on this but time is an issue.

I am closing this because this is due to a previous version and would mislead others.

ps: the fact that user_activity is not under heartbeat anymore is the reason i know the database of a previous installation is the problem. Remove it manually (heartbeat_messages as well) . You could try again, but again, this is in development.

I use the releases to quickly test this because it has to be ready in a month.
