As I have understood module is designed to make menu path in such a way: category/vid/tid/tid/...... It is working in case of configuration where menu item is selected Expanded. In configuration where menu item is not selected like expanded, menu path is like category/vid/tid - it means without any hierarchy, and I think it is a bug. In such a case as well breadcrumb is not correct. It looks like: category name>last subterm name, instead of category> first term name > subetrm name > subterm name > ..... > last subterm name.

One more issue in case configuration is for not expanded menu item. I am not able to get menus displayed in block for subterms. Only term is displayed in block, and subterm is displayed in page. In menu configuration seems everything ok - all menus are present, but in real navigation not.

Next issue probably related to feature request. In case I have menu item not expanded, and I have navigated throughout menu to find nodes related taxonomy term, by selecting to display a node, menu is collapsing, while would be nice to have it as is, to keep navigation history.

Thanks for the detailed report. You've obviously tested to some extent, and your report is helpful. You are right about how the URL's work.

I'm intrigued that people are trying the expansion options first. These options are inherited from Drupal's custom menu setup, I have not tested extensively myself, and given the quality of your email, I take this to be a bug.

What to do? You might like to see my answer to this feature request.

You'll note that this post is a little like your own request, for some sort of inheritance in node display.

My position is this - until/unless I get more coders on board, my priority is a new version. This is likely to very much affect the expansion options.

You have now made the second call on this issue, so I see it as a first priority. But only once I revise the module core.
