Problem/Motivation
After I went back to the term all roles were deselected and instead 2 users were added to Allowed user. Below I listed the steps that I did. Does anybody else have the same issue or is there some known issue with some of other modules?
Steps to reproduce
- Login as user 1
- Enabled Permissions by Term.
- Enabled Permissions by Entity
- Created new Taxonomy vocabulary
- Added two terms on which select 3 roles. No user were added to Allowed users
- Created file and selected a term
- Added Taxonomy reference field to media
- Created 3 new users, each with one of the roles
- Went back to media file and couldn't no option was in the taxonomy reference field
- Checked on the term vocabulary. All the roles are deselected and instead 2 users are in Allowed users field.
- If I try to resave the term with selected roles, after saving the term, the roles are deselected again and instead 2 users are added to Allowed users.

Katy Jockelson commentedI am having a similar issue.
1. I select 'Auth users'
2. Hit save
3. On some terms in my taxonomy it saves (and also adds a check for 'Administrator')
4. On some terms in the same taxonomy now nothing is selected
No errors, nothing in the logs, can't see why some are saving and some are not.
Any ideas?

vitaliyb98 commentedAttempted to reproduce the issue by following the steps from the task description, but was unsuccessful. I also debugged the functionality and found that such a problem could theoretically occur if content translation is enabled and multiple versions of a term exist. However, repeating the steps with multilingual support enabled still did not reproduce the issue.
It appears that this problem does not exist in the current supported (3.x) version of the module. The issue was originally reported for the 2.x version, which is no longer maintained.
In my view, the only way to continue working on this issue is to request more detailed steps from the users (whether multilingual is enabled, what additional modules are active, how many extra roles are configured or etc).

mattea.turnbull commentedThere is a current issue where if you have a multilingual site and you click 'save and go to list' the options are not saved. If this is your issue, clicking 'save' instead will resolve the issue.

vitaliyb98 commentedHi @mattea.turnbull,
Thank you for the useful information!
I was able to reproduce the issue you described, even without multilingual functionality enabled.
However, I'm not entirely sure that it is related to the original issue mentioned in this comment thread.
It may be better to create a separate issue for the problem you described, as it appears to be a distinct issue and is much easier to reproduce than the original issue being tracked in this task.

vitaliyb98 commentedAs the original issue could not be reproduced, I am closing this issue.
During the investigation, a different issue was identified and has been reported separately: https://www.drupal.org/project/permissions_by_term/issues/3204631
