As after drupal 8.7.7 drupal supports core version requirement key in info.yml file hence if the module supports multiple drupal version we can leverage semantic versioning. Ref:-

Good news! This project has a new maintainer (https://www.drupal.org/project/social_auth/issues/3180189) and this has just been released in 8.x-2.0-rc3:
