Problem/Motivation

  • We have a design treatment for inline images, however, we're missing design guidelines for the Document (eg. PDF, txt, doc, etc).
  • While working on #3117239: Theme inline Media types, we've identified that the default styling of the document and the caption box around the audio needs some work.

Proposed resolution

Establish a design pattern for the following media types:

  • Document
  • Audio file (local)
  • Video file (local)
  • Remote video

Note: We're not altering the default styling of the audio player, but we need some design guidances on how to best display this media type when a caption is visible.

Note that changing the actual audio player is out of scope. But, we can change the treatment around it (the gray box around it).

We could also add icons to the various documents.

@mherchel I agree. I'll change the description of the issue to note that we're not proposing a new design treatment for the audio player, however, we'll going to fine-tune the grey caption box around it.

@mherchel @proeung: Is it possible to add an icon attached to links for audio files, pdfs and video files?

mherchel’s picture

Yes it is. We can also get the file extension from the URL.

@mherchel @jwitkowski79 It doesn't look like we have much traction for adding icons for the different media types. Is this something we'd like to move forward with or is what we have at the moment sufficient? Example - https://tugboat-aqrmztryfqsezpvnghut1cszck2wwasr.tugboat.qa/node/59
