1️⃣ Initiative status and deadlines

mtift (he/him)	There has been a lot of activity in the past couple days.
mtift (he/him)	This is the thread to discuss the overall status of the project
mtift (he/him)	We've been working to finishing up the proof of concept (POC) and starting work on the Drupal theme
mherchel	We’ve moved forward fairly significantly the past week. Theme is looking good. Our goal is to get the overall header and layout completed shortly
mherchel	You want to discuss the Florida Drupalcamp stuff in this thread or another?
mtift (he/him)	We've got another thread for that

Gábor Hojtsy (he/him)	With lots of beta requirements left still today, core committers are about to announce that the March first week beta and consequently the June 3 release scenario for Drupal 9 is not a fit anymore. We are shifting into the second scenario with an end of April beta deadline. What do you think of Olivero’s feasibility in this scenario? In what stability level would it be by then? :slightly_smiling_face: How can we help?
mherchel	@Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) does that mean we have until the end of April to get the theme’s core patch committed?
mherchel	I would hope that the stability of the theme is pretty good by then. Many of the hard parts are being tackled in the PoC
mherchel	as far as what you can do to help. that’s :thinking_face:
mherchel	Also, note that we’ll be doing a decent sprint at Drupal Dev Days early April that should go a long way to get the theme’s code up to core standards
Gábor Hojtsy (he/him)	@mherchel we’d need this issue fleshed out more as soon as feasible #3111409: Add new Olivero frontend theme to Drupal 9.1 core as beta
Gábor Hojtsy (he/him)	so stakeholders (release/frontend framework/product managers) get a chance to review of all the things that may break stuff :slightly_smiling_face: not a patch but general things, like “we plan to be beta by this date”, “we plan to provide/not provide APIs”, “we plan to provide this flexibility but not that flexibility” etc
mherchel	@Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) so are you looking for a list of d.o issues that we need to complete before this issue is ready?
Gábor Hojtsy (he/him)	@mherchel that too, and a high level architecture / plan
mherchel	when you say “architecture / plan”, are you talking about theme architecture, or plan on getting this into core? If it’s the latter, I can put together a list of items that still need to be completed
mherchel	Is this important to do now, or is the actual theme development more important

mtift (he/him)	It sounds like we basically need to get together a list of all of the key areas that need to be completed, with links to other tickets on d.o
Gábor Hojtsy (he/him)	From the committer side, I would say anything that could make or break the theme’s inclusion, which is usually extension points, timelines, 3rd party tools needed, etc.
mherchel	gotcha. I’ll put something together. I’ll try to do it this week.
Gábor Hojtsy (he/him)	It does not really matter IMHO what is the delta of the contrib theme vs. what would go into the core theme, rather that when the core theme would be at which stage (beta/stable) and what would be the overall arhictecture (eg. “we require UltimatePostCSS2000 which is the best tool, but need to get support into core first to even begin anything”) (edited)

mtift (he/him)	We have some basic questions like "does forum module need to be supported in beta?"
mtift (he/him)	I have to head out for another meeting right now, but we'd obviously be glad to help keep moving with this forward in a way that is helpful

2️⃣ Code sprint at Florida DrupalCamp

mtift (he/him)	The real magic often seems to happen in person
mherchel	We’ve had a number of people helping out in person, and you’re right that the magic does tend to happen in person :slightly_smiling_face:
mherchel	Note that I’m still doing some work on the PoC… i found an IE11 issues and also some issues with Windows High Contrast mode that need to be addressed
mherchel	I plan on working through those today.
mherchel	@Putra Bonaccorsi has been working on bringing markup into the theme, and it’s been going well. I’ll let her talk about that

Putra Bonaccorsi	I'm working on getting the latest Tugboat preview staging link up so that folks can see our progress from regarding the theming side.
mherchel	Also, please note that we don’t have the latest CSS/JS & accessibility fixes from the PoC into the actual theme yet
mherchel	But those should be easy to bring in when we’re ready
Bhavin Joshi (he/him)	If no one is working on it, I suggest to work on it.
mherchel	It’s not ready to be brought in just yet… I’m still fixing some IE11 issues there, and Windows high contrast mode issues
mherchel	i want to get those fixed before moving em into the theme

mherchel	I tagged @brianperry in this (who was working on it at the FLDC sprint) but I don’t think we need discussion at the moment
mherchel	I think most of the updates are in contrib kanban, although some of the PoC stuff that I’m working on does not have issues
brianperry	Agreed - thanks for the helpful feedback. I'm going to re-work what I have using that approach.
ellenoise (she/her)	I’m trying to get up and running with the contrib theme code. Should I install that with Drupal 9.0.x-dev or 8.9.x?
mherchel	8.8 or 8.9
mherchel	note that that codebase is going to be moving pretty fast today
