It would be great if #2943253: Add form widgets for date fields could make it in to alpha4, as that will help me on Rules issue #2471481: Integrate Typed Data Widgets. Not sure how ready it is, as not been worked on for over a year. I will test that issue and see how the widgets works with my ongoing changes to Rules ContextFormTrait

Yes, the plan is to make a new release as soon as practical after the Drupal core change scheduled for 4 December 2019.

On or around that date, core Drupal 8.8.0 will be released and Drupal core 8.6.x will no longer be supported and Drupal core 8.7.x will be the lowest-supported version of core. At that time we can publish a new release of Typed Data which removes any code that was deprecated in Drupal 8.7.0 or earlier, and which includes any new features we can squeeze in by then.

I also intend to make a new release of Rules after the Typed Data release. Rules has some much bigger changes needed, like #3030295: 'context' deprecated in Rules @Condition annotation and #3092087: Deprecate 'context' in Rules @RulesAction annotation, so the Rules release may be delayed for a while after that date. I definitely want #2471481: Integrate Typed Data Widgets in the new Rules release, even if it's not 100%.

I will look at #2943253: Add form widgets for date fields in the next few days - I agree it would be nice to get that in. In any case, I'd like to roll the new release before Monday.

I just released alpha4 with what's currently in there - no sense in delaying this any longer. We can always roll a new alpha next month, or anytime really, when we finish off important new features.

Beta blocker issues are still tagged as such - when those are finished I'll release a beta then quickly on to a full release once the beta has gotten some use.

I have done more investigation on #2943253: Add form widgets for date fields and found some new problems, but not resolved it all yet, so yes good idea not to wait any longer.
