Problem/Motivation

This is spun off from #3039829-37: Remove link to media item from media library view.. That issue introduces improvements to the administrative media library, but it makes the checkboxes used to select particular media items a little harder to see/use. We should improve that.

Proposed resolution

Come up with a better design for the checkboxes, and implement it.

Drupal core is moving towards using a “main” branch. As an interim step, a new 11.x branch has been opened, as Drupal.org infrastructure cannot currently fully support a branch named main.
