I'm running 8.7.1 and installed Layout Builder on my site, and it took over the displays of all my content types. This resulted in all my pages being blank (showing no fields).

As I understand it, it is supposed to be opt-in, according to Layout Builder should be opt-in per display (entity type/bundle/view mode). That did not happen in my case. Looking at that thread, it was committed to 8.7.x 10 months ago, but now I am left wondering whether that made it into the actual 8.7.1 release. I did not want to re-open that thread since it is closed.

It is indeed opt-in. After installing the module, you have to go to Manage Display and enable it per-display.

Does your site have the field_layout module installed?

That isn't what happened for me. All my content types had layout builder enabled and then I had to opt them all out. I did have field_layout installed, but had uninstalled it, and still had the same situation. Then I uninstalled Layout Builder and Layout Discovery, and reinstalled Layout Builder and Layout Discovery, and now it's fine.

It appears Field Layout doesn't fully uninstall itself and that this is an issue with that experimental module rather than with Layout Builder, so I think we can close this.
