Problem/Motivation

#2942907: Entity system does not provide an API for retrieving an entity variant that is safe for editing provides 'Active' and 'Canonical' variants of an entity. The views module should be able to provide a way to show values for these variants.

Proposed resolution

Provide two new entity relationship plugins to show the data form 'Active' or 'Canonical' variant.

Decide the best way to provide the entity data for 'Active' and 'Canonical' variants in views.

I think like others commented, I'm honestly not sure how that makes sense. Views does a query. you either query the revision table or the default table and there are existing plugins to control which language should be displayed. I don't know how those plugins would work and who would use them.
