Given that Aegir Deploy:

  • significantly improves the UX on the Add Platform form,
  • adds copious amounts of in-line documentation,
  • allows Composer-based sites to be provisioned directly from Packagist,
  • allows Git-based sites to be immutable thereby disallowing dangerous operations, and
  • clearly illustrates the differences between the various deployment strategies

...it should be enabled by default. But we can consider that later. At the very least, let's add the module to Golden Contrib so that it ships with Aegir.

Prerequisites

These other issues should be resolved before we can finalize this one.

Do we need to add the dependencies as well, or do these get pulled in automatically?

I just created #3038831: deployfrompackegist error and #3038823: Text overlaps while testing this ... but +1 in general ...

the patch here then also needs to add it's dependencies ... features and hosting_objects
