Problem

One of the biggest hurdles in creating a diverse set of speakers is finding the right person for the right topic. As a DrupalCamp organizer this task becomes increasingly difficult while also executing on the other aspects of the event. It would be great if DDI provided a resource that listed speakers who have been vetted by someone or a group of people as a speaker who is knowledgable on a specific topic.

A project like this is will provide some classic trolling backlash, but could have an immediate impact and resource that other communities may want to utilize, thus IMHO making the resource worth it.

Solution

Creation of a speaker content type that includes a photo, bio, and maybe some links to previous talks, preferably Drupal events that have video recording of the presentation. Utilize the gender module for identifying what underrepresented group each speaker self-identifies with.

Feature Requests

• Submission by any authorized user, but workflow required for approval
• A way to contact speaker without seeing contact information
• Utilize the Gender Module for people to self-identify
• Fields to List and show Previous Talks
• A way to show any upcoming speaker engagements. Helps promote the speaker and organizer if they are speaking too close
• Speaker Rider and or Price, Travel, Stipend Amount etc.
