The recent change to Drush 9 breaks backwards compatibility for exiting scripts and on one project is causing massive problems with Pantheon. Would it be ok to revert the 8.x-1.x branch to Drush 8 and open a new 8.x-2.x branch for Drush 9? Thanks.

Thanks for the patch Damien!

I have tested it locally and committed the change.

Confirmed "Installing drush/drush (8.1.16): Loading from cache", so it appears to get what we want here.
