I have found the problem when you verify your number on the user page (for example) and reload the page the phone number will be displayed wrong. Check the screenshot, please.

Number formatting is by design, dont see why should it should be removed.

I'm facing same.

It is adding leading zero to the number when using it for UAE / KSA.

Leading zero is misleading here as we are already showing the country code right before it.

I vote for fixing this.

Not all mobile number fields have the country selection options. For consistency I'm going keep the number formatted.
