I need my end-users to add new reference whenever they like.
If I open the permission, they will access all reference types (Artwork, Audiovisual, etc.) and they do not need all of them (essentially Journal article and Book Chapter).
Is there a way to hide unnecessary reference types OR should I delete any useless reference types?
I suppose the last option is OK but it seems a little brutale...

Deletion is probably not the best way, but actually depends on your real needs. So if you're 100% sure you will not need these types in future, it may work.

But we're actually going to commit updates for permissions, to divide them by type similar to nodes, within #2878975: Improve module permissions issue. I believe this change will solve your issue. Changes should be committed in 1-2 days.

Hi antongp, many thanks for your answer, I guess updating the permissions will do the job, indeed. For my current project, I have deleted a few types and for the next ones (I will need your module for many other websites, as I am working with academic researchers), working with type permissions will solve this issue.

Permissions update was pushed to the latest dev here: #2878975-11: Improve module permissions
Please read changelog record carefully http://cgit.drupalcode.org/bibcite/tree/CHANGELOG.md?id=63332e7c#n6 because manual updates may be needed.

Also, looks alpha5 is very close. Basically there are no new changes planned for these release, the only remaining thing is to make sure update from alpha4 (not from newer devs) runs smoothly.
