Parent group(gid) should be required

In the definition of GroupContent entity, the gid(Parent group) base field is not defined as required. But from the logic it should be required. One consequence of it is that there no way to specify the group when using Rules module to create a group content, because the Rules module only allows to specify the required base fields in creating entity(in this case the Group Content entity) action.
