When I enable clientside_validation_jquery and go to a page with comments turned on I get the following javascript error on the console:

TypeError: $(...).validate is not a function

I have tried using the CDN version 1.14 since the latest version is 1.17 and still the same issue. I then modified the module to pull against 1.17 and still getting the same issue.

Suggestions?

Christopher Riley created an issue. See original summary.

I was looking in another thread and saw where big pipe was causing grief. Turned it off and the issue goes away. With Big Pipe being enabled by default now it would be nice to get this resolved.

Thanks in advance

Going one step further I downloaded 1.17 and if loading it locally as instructed by the README (didn't want to do it this way with the issues brought up about safety in another thread) I am no longer getting the issue at least that I can tell from initial testing.

Hi Christopher,

I tried to reproduce issue on fresh D8.4 install with Big Pipe enabled and latest dev version of clientside_validation module but was not able to reproduce the issue you mentioned.

Possible to share info about all the modules used when you faced this error? Also with many issues fixed now in module, can you check once again?

Thanks,
Nikunj

I looked into this again, because I pretty much got this error from the beginning, but things were working.

For me this is still happening with the latest dev version, but only if I am logged in and only on pages without a webform. After testing some things I am quite sure our Mailchimp Signup Form of the mailchimp module is causing this, which is placed in the global footer of every page.

I compared the markup and saw that there is a novalidate="novalidate" missing from the form tag.

ONLY MAILCHIMP SIGNUP FORM ON PAGE

<form action="/shop" method="post" id="mailchimp-signup-subscribe-block-mc-signup-form" accept-charset="UTF-8" role="form">

WEBFORM & MAILCHIMP SIGNUP FORM ON PAGE

<form action="/abo" method="post" id="mailchimp-signup-subscribe-block-mc-signup-form" accept-charset="UTF-8" role="form" novalidate="novalidate">

Thanks for the details, possible to share a feature module adding required configurations / config export / db dump with list of modules for me to replicate this quickly at my end?

I am afraid you would have to setup a free mailchimp account, create an api key, a list and then configure the mailchimp module accordingly and place a signup block on the page. But unfortunately this error was not reproducible for me on a fresh install of core 8.4.4 with only clientside_validation, bigpipe and webform using simplytestme … need to dig further … maybe a conflict with something else.

Ahh, that will be a lot to finish today, not sure when I'll get a golden day like this again but let me know if I can help in any way to fix this :)

Maybe we should close this issue in favor of https://www.drupal.org/project/clientside_validation/issues/2928736 – I am getting the exact same output in Crome as stated there. TypeError: $(...).validate is not a function or TypeError: $(this).validate is not a function. (In '$(this).validate()', '$(this).validate' is undefined) describe the same problem, I think, because I saw this in other browsers, too.
