Hi.I and my colleague created a prototype of this module for d8. The code is available on github. Feel free to provide some feedback.

The code was pushed to 8.x-1.x branch and also an alpha1 release was made.

Closing this issue, as I think we did a good starting point, now we should work on this and track problems in separate issue. Thank you @nkoporec and @janezzibelnik for your work.
