Hello,
My website is http://www.focconline.com
I installed everything, and it appeared to be working properly. It changed everyone's profile to the way it was supposed to except for the older members. Anyone that joined pretty recently to my site had their profile changed. Anyone who joined a couple weeks ago, and beyond their profile changed, but not to the way it was supposed to. All of their user information is gone as well. I have attached a two screen shots to what each one look like. The shouldberight.jpeg is what it is supposed to be doing ( I think), and the other attachment is what it is doing for some of the profiles. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brent

michelleWhat you have in "notright" is what happens when panels can't find the node context. First, can you verify that the users with the problem profiles have a profile node created? Are you using bio or nodeprofile?

Outlaw_designs commentedI am using Bio profile. How would I go about verifying if they have a profile node, and how (if they dont) would I go about getting them one. Let me say that this is one AWESOME module. This is probably the best I have seen. It really helps in making the profile stick out, and work a lot better. I would really like to get it how you have it setup on your website with all the drop down boxes and everything to choose from. I am just not sure how to do that. I installed APK once, and I couldn't get it to work right. It wasn't doing anything. I had to uninstall APK, bio profile, and views. I re installed them, and that is when I got it to work for the new users that registered within a week of today's date. Anyone who registered from that date on back lost everything they registered with. Their name, interest, etc etc, and then their profile looked like the notright.jpg. Anymore information you need, I can try and give. I really appreciate you helping me.
Thanks,
Brent

Outlaw_designs commentedHello,
I noticed on your website (http://socnet.shellmultimedia.com/) that when I go to the "User Profile" tab, I get 5 tabs for all of the sections in my profile (Basi Info, Stats, Contact, Links, and Media) I don't get those on my page. When you go to "User profile" under one of the accounts that are working it doesn't have anything. I tjust says "Profile Title" with the username in it "Log Message". How do I get it to look like yours? Also, this is what I am seeing for Advance Profile configuration page.
"Advanced Profile
This page is empty because no settings apply with your current configuration."
I know I probably screwed something up, I always do. I am at a loss on how to fix any of this. I really appreacite your help.
Thanks,
Brent

michelleYou're not going to get the tabs unless you install the fieldgroup tabs module. That has nothing to do with APK. If you aren't seeing any fields when you edit the user profile then you have something messed up with either bio or CCK. These also have nothing to do with APK. Getting that message on the APK settings page is perfectly normal.

Outlaw_designs commentedI am at a loss. I have the fieldgroup module installed, and everything appears to be working. Are the tabs supposed to come with fieldgroup (like the ones on your website?) because if so, they didn't. How do I set them up so that they appear on APK? Thanks again,
Brent
Comment #6
michelleAs I said, you need the fieldgroup tabs module.

Outlaw_designs commentedHey Michelle,
When I installed APK, I had these options to choose from:
1. Navigate to ?q=admin/settings/advanced-profile
2. Profile type auto creation: Check this box and save configuration. This option will disappear once the node type exists and you will need to delete your node type if you want to re-create it.
3. Navigate to ?q=admin/content/types/uprofile/display and change the labels to inline as needed. This is not carried over via content copy.
I never got the "Profile type auto creation. Would that be because at the time I didn't have fieldgroups tab module installed? There wasn't an option for me to change the labels to inline. Why would that happen?
I do have that module installed as well. It never created those tabs that are on your website. I don't want to be a bother, but I am just not getting this. I'm sort of new to the whole drupal thing. I really apologize for being stupid. I really appreciate your help. If it is a problem with Bio or CCK what would I need to do to find out? I can give you access to my site, if you would like to take a look. Thank you again.

michelleOk, first off, fieldgroup tabs is not a requirement. It's just something that makes the data entry form look nicer. So that really has nothing to do with the problem you're having.
So you're saying that you don't have a node type "uprofile" and you're not seeing the option to create it on the settings page? If so, then that's the problem. Please confirm.

Outlaw_designs commentedHello Michelle,
That is correct. I can't find anything that says "uprofile" or a place to create one. I have a tab on my user's account that says "User Profile" but nothing for uprofile.
I was never able to get past step 10 on the documentation for APK. I am assuming that is why it isn't working, but I don't know. Like I said, the newer users have the new profile look, but without all the tabs and options you have on your site. The older profiles just have "Topics participated" in their profile. Thanks for the help.

michelleOk, this doesn't make sense. If you don't have a uprofile node type, then none of your users should have profiles. Unless it's getting it from some other type. What node type do you have bio set to use? If you're getting a tab for user profile from bio, you must have assigned a node type to it.

Outlaw_designs commentedHey Michelle,
Now when I go to http://www.focconline.com/admin/content/types/uprofile/fields I get a message that says "There are no groups configured for this content type" with "title" under label, name, type and weight -5. Before when I went to the above link it went to "Page not found". Anything I am doing wrong? I am sure it is :). Thanks for being patient.

michelleOk, so you have the uprofile content type but there's no fields on it? That would be the problem. Ok, if there's no fields then there shouldn't be any data but back up your database just to be safe. Then delete the content type. Then go to the APK settings and you should have the option to create it. Then go back to bio and make sure it's still associated.
What's got me confused is it sounded like you had some people with profile information filled out but I don't know how that's possible if there's no fields. Deleting the content type will delete any data that goes with it, so if there is some data there somewhere somehow it will be lost, which is why I said to backup first.
The other alternative is to import the contents of uprofile.inc manually in the UI.

Outlaw_designs commentedHey,
When you say "Content type" you mean the whole module correct? I am pretty certain that is what you mean. Then I should see the settings. How will I make sure Bio is still associated? Do I need to uninstall that as well?
I am sorry for the confusion. I had some people who's profiles looked like what your site does (without the information, the only information they had was at the top join date and what not).
It sound like it might be easier to import the contents manually. Just incase I would loose something. How would I do that? Where do I put the information from uprofile at? I am sorry I am such a pain.
Thanks,
Brent
Comment #14
michelleNo, when I say content type I mean delete the uprofile content type (aka node type). Somehow you created one that doesn't have the fields. APK won't let you re-create it because CCK yells at you if you try to do that. So you need to delete your non functional uprofile content/node type and then go into the settings page and have it recreate it for you. If you never had users with information showing, then you're not going to lose anything.

Outlaw_designs commentedHello again,
I have gotten it to take the information now. I have all of the fields. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Now I have another problem...Yup believe it or not :). I installed fieldgroup tabs, and everything, but they aren't working like your site does. I enabled them and everything. Any ideas? Thank you so much for all your help.

michelleSorry, but my time is extremely limited so I have to limit my support to just my modules. If fieldgroup tabs isn't working for you, please file an issue in that module's queue.
