I am using Views Slideshow 3.8 and Views Slideshow Cycle 3.8, along with Xtra 3.8. I first saw this but with Views Slideshow 3.4, then went to 3.8 (avoiding 3.9 due to https://www.drupal.org/node/2885149). VS 3.8 made no difference.

Here's the problem: My overlay attachment of title and summary works very nicely over my images for some days, and then the overlay disappears entirely. The slides continue rotating. The overlays only reappear if I flush all caches. They come right back, but then within one or three days they disappear again. There is nothing in the Watchdog.

I also commented out the pauseAFterMouseMove code in views_slideshow_xtra_overlay.js as in https://www.drupal.org/node/2885149#comment-12127426. I think before I did that I was not getting any overlay at all. I just didn't need this feature so commented out the whole block of code. After I did that things worked nicely until they didn't.

Thanks for any help.

Priority: Major » Critical

I probably should have made this Critical to begin with but now it seems to be happening even more frequently, within a day or two of the last Cache flush. Is there a maintainer or anyone who can help with this. The Overlay module is pretty much useless. When this occurs, apparently randomly, the only thing I see is the transparent overlay background - empty.

Could a maintainer please comment on my critical (at least for me) issue? It is still happening and fairly frequently. My client has to flush cache herself once a week or so after noticing no overlay text on her front page slideshow.
