jQuery 1.7+ breaks dropdown feature of Nice Menus 7.x-2.5

I am using Nice Menus 7.x-2.5 and installed jQuery Update for jQuery 1.7+ required by slick. This installation broke drop down feature of my nice menus. #5 status in this link https://www.drupal.org/node/2343589 resolved the issue. I am unable to find how this was fixed 2 years back.
