Problem/Motivation

Sometimes an example date format is shown with a date field. When the HTML5 date field is used, this might not match the input format of the browser. This is misleading.

For example the authored on field on node edit:
authored on

The popup on hover on any date field:
authored on hover

Proposed resolution

The format example makes sense when using the polyfill, but not with the HTML5 element. The format should only be visible in that case.

The issue isn't resolved yet.

You need a system locale with a different date format to see the issue. Both the description and tooltip mismatch with the HTML5 input format.
