I'm trying to upgrade from 3.9 to 3.10 on Ubuntu 14.4.5 LTS using:
apt-get update
apt-get install aegir3
The process starts OK but stalls (twice so far) at these last 5 lines:
Changed permissions of [success]
/var/aegir/hostmaster-7.x-3.10/sites/all/drush/drushrc.php to 444
Platforms path /var/aegir/platforms exists. [success]
Platforms ownership of /var/aegir/platforms has been changed to [success]
aegir.
Platforms permissions of /var/aegir/platforms have been changed to [success]
755.
Platforms path /var/aegir/platforms is writable. [success]
What could be happening? I'm not even sure how to gracefully recover from this.
I've been able to upgrade Aegir in the past using this method.
The only other contrib module I have is https://gitlab.com/aegir/hosting_https

helmo commentedThis is the same as #2773223: Aegir Upgrade Stuck After Platforms Path Is Writable which describes a workaround ... we're thinking of a solution in #2861696: Extra output via debugging messages cannot be enabled on Debian package upgrades

inteja commentedThanks helmo but so far the workaround described in the other issue isn;t working for me. I deleted the running aegir task nodes, then also deactivated all the queues as Aegir kept respawning new backup tasks for 1 site every minute. Then I restarted server and tried updating to 3.10 again and it's still hanging.

inteja commentedGot it working - had missed a few processing tasks.
But now have a fix permissions issue that wasn't an issue for me in 3.9
