Can you test the patch above and let me know if it fixes the issue. I did some fast manual testing and it seems to work.

Edit: Just to clarify, the patch from #2594425: Add the option in system menu block to "Expand all items in this tree" is required for this to work.

Note that I'll add this to production site. I'm aware of the dangers but it's just too good of a module :)
