Reference entity should have support of revisions functionality. Also, it should work with editorial workflows.

Proposed resolution

Add support of revisions to Reference entity and ensure is working with "Entity Reference Revisions" module

Support of revisions for "Reference" entity was implemented in 8.x-1.x-revision git branch.

Unfortunately, I not found a method to update database schema for tables with existing content.
Because of that I'm forced to move this task to the next alpha release.

I want to have a discussion with community members who use this module.

I try to find a method for painless updates but it can be not possible.
In this case we can deploy changes in the main branch, but for updating module on your site you will need to delete all bibliographic content, do updates and post/import content back.
