Currently, QueueFactory::get() fetches $this->container->get($service_name)->get($name);, meaning it invokes the get method on the concrete queue factory service it obtains from the container, but there is no common base class nor interface used by existing concrete query factories:

  • Core: QueueDatabaseFactory: no ancestor, no interface
  • Contrib: BeanstalkdQueueFactory, (RabbitMq)QueueFactory, QueueRedisFactory: none either
  • Contrib: ReliableQueueRedisFactory extends QueueRedisFactory

Since all these concrete queue factories HAVE TO implement a get(string $name): QueueInterface, it seems there should exist a QueueFactoryInterface for them to implement, and this would make the QueueFactory::get() method more consistent.

New developments and disruptive changes should now be targeted for the 11.x branch, which currently accepts only minor-version allowed changes. For more information, see the Drupal core minor version schedule and the Allowed changes during the Drupal core release cycle.
