The Viewfield module seems to solve a very similar use case. There is a working D8 port: #2220929: Viewfield: Drupal 8 version A know quite a few people using that module already. Let's not create a duplicate of it.

Does View Display Entity Reference solve data storage in a better way than the D8 port of Viewfield? Could we merge this into Viewfield?
