Hi,

I got this problem with Lightbox2: When you leave the box by clicking on the page the fade-out repeats itself for the amount of time you've viewed a lightbox.

The situation:
I got a couple of video's displayed inside a lightbox, everything works fine there. Then, you exit the lightbox by clicking somewhere on the site (not with the X-button or by pressing esc). When it is the first video you've watched, it all goes well. Then, you click on another videolink, a lightbox appears, you exit it again and the fade-out repeats itself once. Then, another video, you exit it again and the fade-out repeats itself twice. And so on...

What's the problem? And more important, how can it be fixed?

I can't reproduce this issue. I've tried it in IE7 and Firefox 3 on Windows XP. What browser and platform are you using?

Does it only happen with videos or does it also happen with images? How is the lightbox generated? Are you using rel="lightvideo" or is this one of the automatically handled videos, like with emfield or acidfree videos?

I use Firefox 3 on Windows XP, but I get the problem with IE7 as well. So I don't think it's browser-related.

I only use Lightbox for video's, so I don't know if it gets this problem with images. If you want, I can try this out. The lightbox uses rel="lightvideo".

I need to see the site so I can look at the page source. If you can't give me access can you do the following for me:

  • Install the Firefox Web Developer toolbar. With this toolbar it's possible to see the page source (before javascript) and the generated page source (after javascript runs). You can find these options under the "View Source" item on the toolbar.
  • Open up the problematic page, and send me the normal page source and the generated page source.
  • Open a video and before you close it, send me the updated generated page source.
  • Close the video, and send me the updated generated page source.
  • Repeat last two steps again.

Which type of video are you displaying in the lightbox (e.g. Google video, youTube, wmv, etc)?

I just found one thing out that might help solving the problem:
The error now occurs on the frontpage, where several nodes are displayed with links to a lightbox containing a video. There are two nodes now, as a test. One got several lightboxes with videos from [url=http://www.blackcabsessions.com/sessions.php]The Black Cab Sessions[/url], the other got a video from [url=http://onderinvloed.com/home/2008/06/session-davie-lawson-uk/]Onder Invloed[/url]. I only get this error when I first open the lightbox from The Black Cab Sessions, and [i]then[/i] opening the one from Onder Invloed. Even when I add a node with a video from, say, YouTube, it only gets the error with the video from Onder Invloed. Could it be that this player just screws with the javascript?

Anyway, I made a dummy user so you can check the page. I'll send the log-in to your account.

Try the attached patch. I don't know if it will work because I still can't reproduce it on my site but I'm hopeful that it will. After applying the patch ensure that you clear your browser cache so it uses the new version of the javascript.

Well.. the technician (is that english?) runned it, and it seems to have solved the problem. Sorry I haven't updated this topic. I've been really busy last week.
