The issue is that I'm very lazy in typing in http:// in front of each external link that I create..am I the only one? ;) Nowadays external links don' require http:// in Google, so copying and pasting a link in the Link field requires each time to type in http:// in front of it manually.
It would be handy to have a checkbox "If checked, the URL will render as an external URL by default"

The existing option "If checked, the URL will always render as an absolute URL" does not work for this case because it appends the complete domain name if no http:// is typed in.

For your issue i have set up local system. In manage display set formatter in "Title, as link (default)". You dont need to write http:// .when you click on it that automatic takes http://.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks!
