I don't know if this is caused by the Metatag Module (but nothing configured related to the generator tag), but i still see in the head:

<meta name="Generator" content="Drupal 8 (https://www.drupal.org)" />

after installation of your version?

@sachbearbeiter, have no idea. The module is just one hook. You can try to debug it yourself.

if you put site into maintenance mode, the Generator is visible.

Why doesn't it work if I set the server headers -> Header unset "X-Powered-By" or expose_php = off
