I think to make the flag-stuff a little bit easier to manage all the abbreviations should be ISO 3166-1 like, 2 letters only.

If you could integrate the flags it would be nice if there will be the flags instead of the abbreviations in the block.

the currently used abbreviations are the abbreviations from the official euro site, so I think we should stay with them.

flags can only be included if they are gpl'ed, otherwise we could do it so: People can put them manually in a dedicated "flags" folder so that they are used when they are available.
