The proper use of 'e.g.' and 'i.e.' are confusing and reportedly are one of the most frequent sources of mistakes editors see in technical writing/documentation. Drupal's user-facing strings include some examples of incorrect usage as well.

This issue is a "holding area" for strings that should be changed the next time such changes are permitted. These strings are then translated into various other languages so such changes need to be made with particular care.

Version: 8.0.x-dev » 8.1.x-dev

String changes are 8.1.x material at least. Since these are not major bugs, we should wait until a new full version to fix them.

Version: 8.1.x-dev » 8.2.x-dev

Drupal 8.1.0-beta1 was released on March 2, 2016, which means new developments and disruptive changes should now be targeted against the 8.2.x-dev branch. For more information see the Drupal 8 minor version schedule and the Allowed changes during the Drupal 8 release cycle.

Honestly, I do not think we need this issue at all.
