Hi,
I have installed diff 7.x-3.2

Now when I click compare button it shows me blank page and in console it shows following

"NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://apr.dev/node/11047/moderation/diff/view/12879/13138"

Can anybody tell me what could be the reason for 500 Internal server error.

Access your server control panel and find the error logs and let us know what the error is and then we can help. Maybe there is a file error_log in your public root with the error there?

If you have no luck, look for posts on debugging WSOD (white screens of death) for pointers on how to show / find the error that is causing the issue.

Note, this simply lets us know what the issue is. It could be PHP or server related; one of potentially 100's issues.

Most likely is a module incompatibility or server resource issue.

Thank you for your reply Alan.
I think I found the problem. There is ckeditor track changes module when I activate that module, then compare stops working and shows blank page and in console it says 500 internal server error. Otherwise it works fine.
Can you help me figuring out what could be the conflict when I activate ckeditor track changes module.

You need to access the logs and let us know what the error is first.

I enabled the error reporting and following is the error appeared on the screen.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function diff_extract_state() in /vagrant/app/sites/all/modules/contrib/diff/diff.pages.inc on line 357

Very strange. It looks like the token file is not being included for some reason.

Is this the module you meant? https://www.drupal.org/project/ckeditor_lite

But the patch should help irrespective.

Its this module which I am using for track changes.

I tried the patch you sent. blank page is not appearing but here are the problems I am still facing

1. If track changes module is disabled, it works well shows the comparison, changes and markdown also works but shows following error on compare page.

Notice: Undefined variable: module in _diff_autoload() (line 341 of /vagrant/app/sites/all/modules/contrib/diff/diff.diff.inc).

2. If track changes module is enabled then it does not show the above error but it does not work properly. It says 'no visible changes' where as there are changes. Moreover standard and mark down also does not work.

I hope you will help to fix the above as well.

This is a very bespoke issue, and sadly falls way down my list of priority sadly. I have 40,000 possible users waiting on D8 ports of Countries & Search config for example.

I'd recommend getting help from a developer to assist, posting back to this issue in case we can incorporate the patches (to avoid having to maintain a hacked module)

Closing, as it still appears to be a GIGO issue from an external source??

One fully left field possibility is that there is an active field that is not assigned to any module, but I'm not even sure that is possible!
